GALA Human Service Cooperative will be hosting another Paid Training class for Arizona Habilitators of children with Autism on April 21 & 22 (Saturday/Sunday) , from 10 am to 3 pm each day. Rhythm ’N’ Song — Creating a Shared Social Experience Through Song Facilitated by SARRC’s music therapist, Rhythm ‘N’ Song is designed to provide young adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), ages 15-21, with a supportive social environment for forming friendships, developing interpersonal skills and building self-esteem. Typical peers participating in the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout program will serve as mentors through group interaction and peer modeling.

This workshop is for teachers, administrators, therapists and others working with children with autism 5 years old or younger in a preschool or toddler program. This workshop will provide participants with useable techniques & strategies to support young children on autism. Included in this training will be an overview of characteristics of ASD, a toolbox of ideas how to support appropriate behavior and a framework for creating a classroom setting that incorporates instructional strategies.
