Behavior Analysts, Inc. has partnered with the H.O.P.E. Group LLC to provide this training opportunity to educators, parents and other practitioners in Arizona on December 10th-12th, 2007 at the Mesa Convention Center. Dr. James Partington will be presenting a 3-day comprehensive series on teaching children with autism.

This training is designed to cover all aspects of teaching skills using verbal behavior methodology in the school and home settings. Participants will learn strategies for teaching children with autism using the methodology of ABA with Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior. Information regarding program development utilizing The ABLLS-R, natural environment teaching, and solving challenging behaviors will also be presented.

Your Presenter:

Dr. James Partington, Ph.D., BCBA, owner of Behavior Analysts Inc. and the STARS School in Pleasant Hill, California is a licensed psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst with more than 35 years of experience. He is the co-author of Teaching Language to Children with Autism or Other Developmental Disabilities and author of the revised edition of The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills- Revised (ABLLS-R) and Web-ABLLS. Dr. Partington also provides extensive training opportunities, consultation services, workshops, STARS model classrooms and clinical services for children and families. The workshops he presents are based on his research and findings, within the field of applied behavior analysis, utilizing the conceptual framework of verbal behavior as developed by BF Skinner in 1957. Parents, families, early intervention programs, preschool programs and school districts benefit from his trainings across the country and abroad.

ABA Training – 10/6 & 10/13

Attention all Habilitators!!

ABA Training Available

What is covered in the training?
The training covers terms, techniques and concepts related to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). These include Discrete Trial Teaching, Positive Behavior Support, Natural Environment Teaching, and Verbal Behavior. The information is presented in an academic format with video samples.

Who can attend?
Any habilitator in Arizona can receive this training! This includes AZA United employees, habilitators with agencies, and independent providers. Parents can also attend free of charge to expand their own knowledge. It is not necessary to be registered with AZA United to attend.

How long is the training?
The trainings consists of 8 hours of instruction and 1 hour of test time, typically across 2 days.

Where does the training take place?
There will be different locations scheduled on different days. See schedule below for details.

How much will participants be paid?
Participants will be paid for 9 hours upon passing (70%) the competency exam. Employees of AZA United will be paid at their normal hourly habilitation rate and receive a $1.00 raise upon completion. Other habilitators will be paid $14/hour. It is necessary to pass the exam in order to be paid.

Do participants need to pass a test at the end of the training?
A competency exam on topics covered will be given to all participants at the end of the training. Those who pass will receive a state-approved certificate and have their names entered into a statewide database. Participants who do not pass may request to take a make-up exam or retake the class.

Visual Support Systems Workshop – 10/6, 10/17, 10/27, 11/10

During the workshop we will provide demonstrations of how to make and implement visual schedules, token boards, PECS systems and other visual supports. We will answer questions about using visual supports and help you make a visual support for your child to take home with you. So come have fun and see how visuals can make life easier!

Cost: FREE to Member families and employees of AZA United! $10 materials fee for all others.
