Dr. Bacon has been in the private practice of optometry in Arizona since 1984. He is currently co-owner of Family Optometry in Chandler, Arizona. This practice provides all aspects of vision care with a special emphasis on children’s vision, visual development, and vision-related learning disabilities. Dr. Bacon also has an extensive background in therapeutic contact lens care.

Part 1: Medicaid, EPSDT and Wraparound services
Learn how successful therapies for DDD children in Arizona can become available at no cost to parents (regardless of family income) to help reduce or eliminate symptoms and challenging behaviors.

Part 2: How to Get the AHCCCS Health Care Services Your Child Needs
Learn how to navigate the ALTCS health care maze, including what to do if you are facing the appeals process for a denial, reduction or termination.

Part 3: Excellent Behavioral Support for Children in their Schools and Homes
EPSDT & BHRS Funding will be thoroughly explained. You will learn how to write individualized treatment plans so that “Medical Necessity” is established, how to access Medicaid funding for BHRS via the EPSDT mandate and how to keep your funding until the treatment plan is finished(without having to water-down treatment).

Fee: $30 ($40 after February 10th)

Note: Due to our difficult economic times, ASA-GPC has elected to underwrite a majority of the original $150 fee with the generous help of both the Scottsdale Bible Church and our speakers. Financial aid is available for low income families.

The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) is proud to present Autism Artisans. This series of art workshops will expose emerging and established artists with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) ages 13 and older to a variety of art mediums.

This ABA Training class offered by Arizona Autism United is recommended for all habilitators of children with autism. The class discusses the common features and needs of children on the autism spectrum and strategies for success to teach new skills and increase positive behaviors.

What topics are covered in the class?
The class contains an overview of autism and terms, techniques and concepts of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) when used to teach individuals on the autism spectrum. These include Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence, Shaping, Extinction, Differential Reinforcement, Prompting, Fading, Generalization, Maintenance, Discrete Trial Teaching, and Natural Environment Teaching. The class includes an interactive presentation with breakout group activities, video examples and a competency exam.

How much does this class cost?
This class is free for employees of AZA United and parents of children with autism. The cost for all others to attend is $25 per person. Space is limited. To register, please see the information below.
