Coco’s meeting — 8/24 at 6:30pm

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

This month’s Coco’s Meeting is going to be fantastic. Dr. Joe Gentry will speak on FBA’s and ABA in schools. Dr. Gentry obtained his doctoral degree from Illinois State University, specializing in assessment, consultation, behavioral therapies and developmental disabilities. He completed his pre- and post- doctoral fellowships at The May Institute in Massachusetts, where he served as an educational and behavioral consultant, providing comprehensive, evidence-based services to children and adults with autism, brain injury, mental retardation, and other childhood disabilities.

Dr. Gentry has been working with children with disabilities such as autism, ADHD, anxiety and other behavioral challenges for the past 9 years and has presented his research nationally on topics related to applied behavior analysis, social skills and autism spectrum disorders. As a certified school psychologist, Dr. Gentry has extensive knowledge of IEPs and the IEP process, assessment of student strengths and deficits and the ability to assess the learning environment.

He also holds a Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) and uses applied behavior analytic methodologies to teach positive behaviors in the school and at home.

All are welcome to attend. We meet on August 24th at 6:30pm at Coco’s off of Tatum and Cactus in the backroom.
