HEAR THE SILENCE Movie Fundraiser — Sat., 7/26

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

The Greater Phoenix Chapter of the Autism Society of America is proud to present the first ever US screening of Hear the Silence, a British docu-drama that became one of the most-watched television movies in UK history. Please join us for the true story of the public and private aftermath of Dr. Andrew Wakefield’s controversial research.

Juliet Stevenson plays a mother who learns of the possible connection between the MMR vaccine and autism when her four-year-old son is diagnosed with the condition. The film is based on real life stories and features Hugh Bonneville as Dr. Andrew Wakefield, the British gastroenterologist whose research first suggested a link between the MMR vaccination, autism and bowel disease, provoking a backlash from the medical community that may ultimately cost him his medical license.
